Well it’s that time of the year again…
A time were we start gearing up for spring by knocking the dust off the lawnmower that has been shuttered away for the past six months and plan to get all that cleaning and work done.
Sounds like a bummer right?
Well this is also the time of the year for Tuscaloosa’s own celebration of southern beers. Yes my friends, it is time for Suds of the South III. For those who have come to the first to can attest this is a great event with a focus on southern breweries. The goal is show people that good beer does
not only have to come from the west coast, Colorado or any where else. We are lucky enough in the south to have some of the best breweries around. This event is also a fundraiser for freethehops.org, with out their work we would have so many less choices.
Suds of the South III will take place on Saturday March 10th from 4pm to 7pm. Attendees will receive a keep sake glass on entry and receive samples from each brewery throughout the event. A limited amount of early bird tickets are available for $20 . Also on Tuesday Feb. 28th a limited amount of hard tickets will be available at Alcove, Corks and Tops and Wilhagans. Here are some highlights from the last few years events! Be sure to get your tickets soon. You don’t want to miss out on one of the best beer events in the state!

Wow, same day as Cigar City’s Hunaphu day. That makes 2 events I’d love to go to that I can’t make due to a conflict
Looking forward to this! Maybe us Mississippians will come with good news
I’m disappointed that Sweetwater is not bringing more of a selection, along with Abita not bringing their Andygator. I wished that we could have gotten someone from the west coast as the “sympathizer” (Stone!!!) instead of Tallgrass. I’m excited about everything else, especially the new beers offered by the local breweries.
Chad Sweetwater is trying to send some stuff special for the event but it happens to be the same day as a huge event they have at their brewery and they are between special batches right now. I spoke with their rep and he told me he was gonna send something but it would be small and he did not want to hype it to much. As for Tallgrass I like their beer. It might not have the name reconition as Bell’s did at last years event but they are up and coming. Stone is not even available in Alabama at all. I try with this event to change from different distributors every year to share the love. I promise there will be even more special announcements soon about special beers. Have you seen today’s update for straight to ale and Good People? There is gonna be a bunch of great stuff. This event is a labor of love me and the rest of Wellthatscool.com does as a benefit to Freethehops.org and for the better meant of Tuscaloosa. I promise it will still be a big hoot.

P.S Abita might still have a trick up their shelve just wait and see.
Thanks for the update Bo. I have yet to sample anything from Tallgrass and am looking forward to it. I was kind of hoping that Straight to Ale would bring their Unobtainium with them again (loved it last year and have had it a couple of times since then), but I am very interested in trying all of their offerings (already love their Monkeynaut). And as far as Good People goes, I enjoyed all their offering last year and am looking forward to trying their new IPA. Keep up the great work!!!
No tallgras 8bit?
Yes they thought it might not make it but it did. I also have a few more beers to add this after noon.
Bo
i’m a convenient store manager and we distribute both bell’s and good people’s product. it must be some good stuff, cause we sell it as fast as we can put it on the shelf.
Dudes! Who WON the vote for best beer at the event!? We had to leave before it was announced. Inquiring minds want to know which beer! Thanks!!!
