Well, it’s that time again… Time for another season of the Lousy Bowlers League. What else are you going to do on a Wednesday night? (Ok, I suppose you could go to Open Mic Night with Ham Bagby at the Green Bar, or join David A. Smith at Egan’s for Trivia). The great thing about bowling with Well That’s Cool is it combines two of our favorite things: sports and drinking.
How does this work?? Either bring a team of three or come and join a team. I have it on good authority that there are several teams that need another player or two, so come out even if you don’t have a full team and we can help you find people to bowl with. It costs $12 per person, per week. This pays for three league games each week (it’s like softball/baseball or volley ball where you play against another team in a series of games), two free games per week which you can use at your leisure (my team used them for practice on Monday nights during our first season), free shoe rental for league games, and the end of season payout. That’s right, every team wins money at the end of the 12 week season, but how much you win depends on how well you do.
You aren’t a good bowler?? Then you are in the right place, this is the Lousy Bowler’s League, after all. Since some bowlers are better than others, we make it fair and make sure it’s fun for everyone by having handicaps. The point is you don’t have to bowl better than the other team, you just have to bowl better compared to your average than they do compared to their average. This is how I single-handedly beat the team with the highest averages one night. I hit my average, but they didn’t hit theirs. There’s math involved in calculating handicaps, but the computer does it all for you so you just bowl and have fun.
You want to bowl, or you’re thinking about it?? TONIGHT (9/5/12) at 8pm at AMF Bama Lanes is the meeting where we decide on all of the rules for the coming season. NEXT WEEK, WE BOWL! Because we have a little bit of organizational stuff like paperwork that we have to do on the first week (9/12/12), come at 7:30 so we can still start bowling at our usual 8pm.
