Kip: 16 seconds that will change your life

Last night I saw local celebrity, city councilman and host of TV's Great Day Tuscaloosa at Publix (the one campus). It got me thinking. A lot of people from Tuscaloosa know Kip as more than the man on Comcast Ch. 20 with the wicker set in the McFarland Mall.
To people who grew up in Tuscaloosa, Kip is their James Spann. Kip was the man in Tuscaloosa TV.  He was THE weatherman at WCFT Channel 33. In the early 1980s, WCFT had the leading local newscast in western Alabama (with newscasts called "Eyewitness News")

But in 1996, 33 was bought and combined with WJSU 40 Anniston and a new station was merged with a low power station in Birmingham to for ABC 33/40. People from 33 went to Birmingham to become part of the new station, but Kip a true Tuscaloosian believed that Tuscaloosa was big enough to have its own tv station.

So he stayed here in the Oak City and built his empire built on Talk Shows, Talent Shows, Bean Brown Stage Shows, MC Gigs and Alberta City City Councilman. That is the reason he has rabid fans like this....

Now that I am moving I guess Kip and I don't have to be sworn enemies any longer, even though he never knew that we were.
Kip is Improving Tuscaloosa Together....fear the stache!
