Beer Party Thursday Afternoon at Egans to Benefit Free The Hops

On Thursday Jan. 20th Egans is playing host to a Great Divide tap take over . The Event will run from 4pm until with proceeds going to Free The Hops and their continued effort  to change the laws and culture of beer in Alabama. All drafts will be $3.50 and feature:

Great Divide Claymore Scotch Ale. Named for a medieval Scottish sword, Claymore Scotch Ale is our tribute to the legendary “Wee Heavy” beers of Scotland. This malty, deep-ruby beauty features lots of caramel sweetness, a reserved hop profile, and a subtle warming character. Unlike its namesake, this beer only requires one hand, but it’ll still make you feel like nobility.  7.7% ABV. beeradvocate.com rating B+

Great Divide Espresso Oaked Age Yeti is a new addition to the Yeti clan. A generous infusion of espresso adds yet another layer of complexity to this beer, combining with the vanilla oak character, intense roasty maltiness and bold hop profile to create a whole new breed of mythical creature. It’s official: You can now have Yeti with breakfast.  9.5% ABV. beeradvocate.com rating A-

Great Divide Hoss is based on the Marzen lagers of Germany. Rich, layered malt notes, with hints of cherry and dark fruits, dominate, while the unique addition of rye imparts a slightly earthy, spicy character. Hoss finishes crisp and dry, and its brilliant red-orange color is a toast to the sunsets that make the perfect backdrop for this beer. 6.2% ABV. beeradvocate.com rating B+

Great Divide Hades is a Belgian-Style golden ale brewed with a rare Belgian yeast strain that gives a complex spicy flavor and aroma. Noticeable hops and medium malt character make it a very well balanced, crisp ale.  7.8% ABV. beeradvocate.com rating B

Tommy knocker Alabama Hop Strike Black Rye IPA is described as “characterized by an intermingling of spicy citrus hops and chocolate nose,” and comes in at a hefty 7% ABV and 78 IBUs. It uses 4 different varieties of grains as well 5 different types of hops. The beer was brewed from the ground up in honor of Free The Hops.beeradvocate.com rating B+
